Our verdict

The Lightning was a fast, quiet and useful work truck, but it was never an off-road rig: no low range, modest clearance and no Tremor-style package. With production over, it's a used-market buy now. Ford's replacement will carry a gas generator to extend its range.

Best for

Used-truck shoppers who want a quick, quiet electric full-size pickup for job sites, home backup power and graded dirt roads.

Skip it if

You tow long distances or need real 4x4 hardware like low range, lockers and clearance for rough trails.

Last model year sold was 2025, and there is no 2026 model. $63,345 is the 2025 XLT, the lowest retail trim, excluding destination (Edmunds; matches KBB's $65,540 including $2,195 destination). Other 2025 prices: Flash $69,995, Lariat $76,995, Platinum $84,995. The Pro work-truck trim is listed at $49,780 by Edmunds ('Pro Fleet') and $54,780 before destination by KBB, so the lowest retail trim is shown. Every Lightning is 4x4.

The off-road trims

What's new for 2026

There is no 2026 model. Ford ended production of the all-electric Lightning in December 2025 and moved Rouge workers to gas and hybrid F-150 production. A next-generation F-150 Lightning EREV (electric drive with a gas generator, estimated 700+ mi range) will be built at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center, and Ford hasn't announced its timing.
