Our verdict
The Silverado EV's strengths are range, towing and cabin space, and the new Trail Boss adds a 2-inch lift, 35-inch tires and four-wheel steer. Chevrolet hasn't released its off-road geometry and there is no locker, so treat it as a capable dirt-road and light-trail truck. For long days far from a charger, it's one of the range leaders among electric pickups.
Best for
Buyers who want long range and strong towing in an electric full-size truck, with the Trail Boss adding lift and tire for rough roads.
Skip it if
You need lockers, published off-road numbers or a low range for technical trails.

Off-road hardware
4WD / AWD system
Dual-motor electric 4WD (a drive unit on each axle) on every 2026 Silverado EV, with no transfer case and no low range. Four-wheel steer with Sidewinder diagonal mode, which turns the rear wheels in the same direction as the fronts at low speed, is standard on Trail Boss. Chevrolet does not list a locking differential.
