The short version

• We don't sell your personal information.
• The calculators run in your browser. Numbers you type into them are not sent to us.
• If you subscribe or contact us, we store your email address and message so we can reply or send the newsletter. You can ask us to delete them at any time.
• We use analytics to understand which pages are useful. It may use cookies.

What we collect

Newsletter: your email address and the date you signed up. We use it only to send The Trail Report, and every email includes a way to unsubscribe.

Contact form: your name, email, topic and message, stored so we can respond and keep a record of corrections.

Analytics: this site uses Google Site Kit and Google Analytics to measure traffic in aggregate, such as page views, referring sites and device types. Google's own privacy policy governs that data. You can block analytics cookies in your browser without affecting how the site works.

Your preferences: your theme choice (light or dark), text size and trucks saved to your compare list are stored only in your own browser's local storage.

Advertising, sponsorships and partners

Some content may be sponsored by a partner. Sponsored articles are labeled at the top of the page, and sponsored banners carry a "Sponsored" label wherever they appear; their links are also marked as sponsored for search engines. The "Friends of the site" links in our footer point to businesses connected to our publisher. ArmorThane, which sponsors the bedliner-business banner you may see on this site, is one of them. None of these relationships affect our verdicts, rankings or the spec data in the truck database.

Spec data and advice

We work hard to keep specs accurate and dated, but manufacturers change ratings and equipment during a model year, and figures vary by configuration. Always confirm ratings for your exact vehicle on its door-jamb labels and in the owner's manual. Guides are general information, not professional advice for a specific vehicle.
